My Black Friday consisted of working in the store today! It was a busier Friday for sure. Typically Black Friday is our busiest day of Thanksgiving Weekend too. I may have worked a bit too hard and pulled something in my back lifting supplies. Instead of working out after work, I just took it easy and planned for my photo shoot. So much work into planning outfits, I don’t know how people do it! It was a challenge but it was fun. Stayed up late preparing.

Daily Journal #37

November 20, 2018

It was my “day off” but it was a packed day! I mean, every day is pretty packed but I did a LOT of running around today. Started with a 9 am product photo shoot for a marketing project we have going on for Pochi. Afterwards, went grocery shopping for Minestrone ingredients. Tomorrow we are having a potluck at work so I wanted to make sure I cooked something everyone could have even with diet restrictions. I try to be intentional with the kind of ingredients I use when I am able to cook at home. So all the veggies, produce and broth were all organic. Fresh herbs were used to flavor the soup as well. Minestrone is one of my favorite soups and easy to make into a hearty meal. I love offering pasta, Parmesan and shredded rotisserie chicken on the side to add into the soup. I picked up my car from the shop and also met up an old coworker/friend. Went back to work for a quick meeting and then it was back home to cook the soup. Even made time to work out as well. Boy am I tired?! Very productive and I was energized all day. No emotional hiccups that I can recall.

Mondays are fun days too! I started the morning off taking my car into the shop. That’s when I realized how sleepy I was still. Good thing I was able to go grab my chai tea latte afterwards. (Chai is my go-to drink ever since I cut down on coffee. Yes, it’s caffeinated still but it doesn’t affect me like coffee.) Working in the store today was good. It was a typical day, just a little slower. I think everyone is prepping for Thanksgiving. We usually have manager meetings on Mondays and today was no different. However, I have been practicing gratitude the past week or so with my fitness accountability group. I decided to bring a gratitude exercise and element into our meeting tonight. It fit so well with all the positive mindset talk we’ve been covering lately! And perfect week to do so. Another good day! No emotional mood swings or outbursts.

Daily Journal #34

November 17, 2018

Started my day with a photo shoot! I was helping my sister shoot pictures for a 1st birthday. I ended up taking all the photos! It was really fun and the baby was so cute! She photographed so beautifully and it was a unicorn theme too! I was able to sneak in some shots for a giveaway as well, so that was nice. Back in the office for the rest of the evening working on the giveaway itself and planning it out. My eyes are tired probably from all the lights, screens and cameras throughout the day. My eyes have become much more sensitive over the years. Caught up with a few friends before I left the store and chatted about the hip hop organization I was a part of in college. They are now running it and I couldn’t be happier. It’s crazy and amazing to see how far it has grown and to see friends doing well. Very inspiring. Ended the night at home with my loves and a good workout. One of my better days. Thankful.

Started off my work day meeting a friend at the coffee shop in the morning! First off, the barista was super nice especially having equipment fail on her while dealing with a lot of customers. Kudos to her. And the friend I was meeting up did some work for my business and I am so excited to share it soon!! She is amazing, talented and super down-to-earth. Can you believe I met her at her calligraphy workshop and then found out she was a current customer at my shop?? So crazy. I went to work afterwards and worked in the store until 3pm. Did some work in the office and we braved the rush hour traffic home. Stopped by the grocery store again and decided to make pasta again! Except made pasta that was more gut friendly. Our tummies weren’t too happy last night. Got my workout in today too. It was a good day.

November 15, 2018

Worked in my business/the store today. Worked 10am to 5pm. Nothing too eventful, but productive. Went to the grocery store. Ralph and I cooked some pasta for dinner and it was delicious. It was also my rest day in my workout plan as well so no workout for me. We have also started watching the Voice again on Hulu. I forget how happy it makes me feel watching it. I am always all smiles and laughter. It beats watching something more serious that makes me feel more tense. The Voice is always a good wind-down type of show for me. And trust me, I always need a wind down process especially after late nights at work so I am able to relax and get restful sleep.

I have been making sure I am getting more rest. I have been listening to my body. When I am tired and my body wants me to rest, I make sure I get it whether it is through naps or going to sleep earlier. I have found that I am more alert and focused. Today was no different, I slept in again and snuggled my pups ALL morning and into the afternoon. I was a little cranky today but it got better and I was still active.

I woke up not feeling good today. I think it was a migraine. So I went back to sleep and didn’t wake up until the afternoon. I felt soooo much better afterwards though. So the sleep was definitely needed. It was a productive day after that. Had a meeting, recorded a few episodes for our podcast (which normally for me is so difficult!) and got in my workout. It was a good day despite the morning hiccup.

Mondays are always a full day. So are Sundays, so as usual I am a bit tired from the night before. But even more so because I just didn’t sleep well at all. It felt like I closed my eyes and opened them and had to get up. Not a restful sleep. A little grumpy at first but I think just being productive and working helped it out. Day off tomorrow so I’m sure I’ll be able to sleep in and get the rest I need!

Busy day at work. I think we were actually understaffed a little at night with how busy it was. BUT, I am so proud of my team for kicking butt throughout the entire night. They hustled hard and they had such a great attitude about it all that it put ME in check. Yup! They were such troopers and it was inspiring to see that. It is amazing what a positive attitude can do.

November 7, 2018

Really emotionally draining day and it didn’t feel productive at all. One of those days where I just feel like I’m at rock bottom and not sure what else to do. Good side of that, I guess, is that there’s really only one way to go after that, which is up. So any progress is good progress. Worked through my shift in the store and made sure I still worked out after I got home from work. We left work around 11:30pm so were home right before midnight I believe. I am glad I still worked out. At least I ended the night with an accomplishment.

I woke up and I could barely move. Everything hurt. I guess Day 1 of the fitness program kicked my butt more than I thought it would or I just went a little crazy and pushed myself too much. I do that sometimes, but I think I just went way too hard way too fast. My body wasn’t used to the movements and I hadn’t worked out for awhile now. Glad I got in a good workout and my body is being challenged. A little disappointed I wasn’t able to do my workout today. Not feeling so good emotionally today either. Having a hard time getting out of a rut and being physically drained doesn’t help it. There’s tomorrow though and tomorrow is a new day.

Today was a Monday of firsts! First day of a fitness program/accountability group I joined. That was fun and challenging. It was also the first day I felt rested in over a week. I am not usually an early morning person, but I started work at 7am without feeling I had to pass out. I was feeling so drained the past few days, it was really starting to stress me out and I could feel myself on the verge of breaking down. I still napped but I am feeling good today.

Only a 4 hour shift and it was so difficult working through it. Afterwards, I was in my office and had a training session to do. Thank goodness for naps and thank goodness for gaining an extra hour from daylight savings. I was a little emotional and feeling stressed from feeling so tired lately but was able to push through it. Heading to sleep early tonight.
