2 Things to Do to Find Inspiration in the Every Day

Everyone has one of those days. You know, the kind where you feel a little stuck and you are just dragging yourself out of bed. Where you are dreading going to work or school. Where your energy is nowhere to be found. It happens to the best of us sometimes and that’s okay.

On those days, we all need an extra nudge to get right back on track again. Believe me, I know it’s tough! We just need to search a little bit more for the thing that fires our soul. Ask yourself, what inspires you? What drives you to be better?

What helps spark my fire for me boils down to doing only 2 things that I’d like to share with you.

“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie

I keep a small planner/journal with me and I write down something good from each day or something I am grateful for. Writing down your daily gratitude puts your day into perspective and allows you to reflect. Some days, I must dig a little deeper (a lot deeper) but it is usually those days that have the most impact on me. Not to mention, practicing gratitude is a great boost to your overall health and happiness!
It is so easy to get caught up with the hustle and bustle of work, life and everything in between. Sometimes, we really do need to slow it down and pay attention to the world around us. We hear it all the time. I hear it all the time. I never understood it until I started to feel how my lack of inspiration and disconnect with my “why” lead to my own burnout. Something must change and simply changing one thing can do the trick.

Pick up a book, listen to an audio book or podcast, watch a video. Stimulate your brain to learn something new or gain new perspectives. There are lots of stories out there from people who have gone through it all. Social media is a great storytelling platform. Stories are shared everyday. I recently watched Create & Cultivate’s Live Video of Keynote Speaker, Sophia Bush. It was on Instagram and I am so glad I watched it. It was inspiring to listen to a strong women advocating for other women. She even talks about her acting work. When she steps away to do something else (not related to reading a script), she comes back enjoying her work even more.

With that said, go get some fresh air! We spend most of our days indoors that spending some real time in nature is rare. We should do it more often! For me, it snaps me out of my own little world when I feel the cold crisp air on my skin. For an added mood boost, go soak up all the sun and get some much needed Vitamin D. It will increase your seratonin, one of our bodies' "happy hormones". If you don’t want to be outside, then spend some time with your loved ones. Reconnect with an old friend perhaps. Dig a little into their personal stories. You would be surprised by what you may find! Everyone has a story.

Be inspired. Stay inspired. Inspire others.
